Enviroboard Clean Coffin Technology

A coffin has two primary functions, namely to securely carry a body through the funeral process and to carry the cultural practices of a funeral rite. Due to their long history, there are very few modern accredited standards for coffins or caskets. Most funeral industries and authorities accept and build on traditional forms.

The lack of objective standards makes it difficult to accept new coffin technology, or new cultural practices entering the industry. With this in mind, LifeArt International set out to create a coffin technology capable of meeting all the functional and cultural requirements of a modern funeral industry.

In Australia we collaborated with the peak funeral body of the day, known as the Funeral Industry Council (FIC). Membership comprised of representatives from various funeral directors associations, the Funeral and Allied Industries Union, the Australian Cemetery and Cremation Associations (ACCA), The Office of Fair Trading, Department of Health, Work Cover, other Funeral Industry Advisors.

It was agreed to test the enviroboard coffin technology against seven critical functions of a coffin and casket. Testsafe Australia, an independent testing authority conducted the tests a series of tests on LifeArt enviroboard coffins 2004.

The coffins remained intact throughout the test program and no structural failures were recorded for the cardboard coffins or the handles during the test program. The results of the testing were provided in test report no. 25607.

Coffins made using en√iroboard coffin technology produce 60% fewer emissions than standard coffins. By using the patented en√iroboard coffin technology a modern funeral business can build fully functional coffins using lightweight structural materials made from waste materials such as sugar cane fibre, waste paper and used cardboard.

The wide range of coffin shapes and choice of beautiful finishes means there is an enviroboard coffin for just about every market segment.
